as promised by me on my tumblr: here is a comprehensive guide to every card deck that me and my siblings have collected, in no particular order. this post was cowritten by my sibling, s. i dictated some of the paragraphs and they wrote them down because they can type quicker, and afterward i edited those paragraphs. i've left the paragraphs s wrote about their decks alone. have fun!

nature

night sky deck by jonathan poppele

at some point we lost the case for this, and now the deck is kept together with a hair band. each card has a different constellation on it, as well as the scientific name with a pronunciation guide, the common name, what season it appears in, and in the bottom corner, a picture of what the constellation is supposed to resemble. this was our second or third card deck. the material is very worn down. this is the card deck we've played with most over the years. very beloved, very beautiful.

giant sequoias deck

the case has a picture of a giant sequoia on it, and the same picture is on the back of each card. there is a fact about sequoias on each card. the material of the cards aren't very good and feel very plasticy. i dont like this deck very much so i dont use it. random fact from the cards: the largest known giant sequoia is the general sherman in sequoia national park. it is 274.9ft tall, 102.6ft in circumpherence, and 52508 cubic ft in volume! - mags

north american wildlife

s thinks we got this one at ragged point, but we're not sure. we're also unsure if we've ever even opened this one. each card has a picture of an animal, with the common and scientific names of the animals, as well as an animal fact. the back has thee most photoshopped image on it. this shit looks like those good morning heavily photoshopped image with the flowers and shit. - mags

ragged point deck

it comes in a clear case with ragged point written on it in cursive-ish. standard card deck, but the back has birds on it. uses flimsy material. nothing else of note. - s

yosemite

it's yosemite! has a picture of half dome rock on the back and on the front are pictures taken at yosemite with facts about the location. this pack was $4! the sticker is still on it. s says they use it every now and then. - mags

illustrated national parks playing cards by anderson design group

one of my favorites! they have lineless style posters for each national park in the us on the front, and on the back is a picture of a compass. well used. i like the posters, they're beautifully done and the color composition slaps. it fucks hard even. highly recommend these! i think we got these at a national park, but unclear which. s also doesn't remember. they spawned in one day. we may have played with them on a road trip! also unclear! despite their mysterious origins, i love them. - mags

playing cards a visual botanical encyclopedia

s's cards, rarely used. the fronts have plant illustrations with scientific and common names, material feels cheap (potentially gotten from 5below) also feels plasticy. on the back is general plants. cute! inoffensive!

marine life of america

gotten from an aquarium! very poorly made in that the printing is fine but the material is cheap and feels easily rippable. the back is a color pencil illustration of a bunch of sea creatures. the fronts have picutres of sea life with common names. i like the deck, but i wish it was made of better material. it feels like im gonna rip them somehow. i also don't care for the joker image. nothing against the noble sea lamprey. lovely creature. i just dont want to see its mouth up close. - mags

australia

we got it from a library book sale. its a standard deck with a map of australia with small illustrations (including an aboriginal person, wildlife, and landmarks) on the back. came in a clear case. nothing else of note. - s

novelty

hot sauce

its got sauces on the back with some peppers. material is cheap plastic, from 5below, front has illustrations of different hot sauces whose amount corresponds with the number on the card. the king and queen have a pepper plant with red peppers, the jack has the same plant with yellow peppers, and the ace is a singular bottle of hot sauce. i don't use this very often. - mags

invisible cards by pieter woudt

comes in a clear case, with rounded edges. there's also a hinge! unsual but handy! incredibly thin plastic cards, transparent, bad texture, hard to get off hte table when playing solitaire, rarely used. the design makes up for all flaws. the backs are just circles that resemble evil eyes, and the front has the number and cool designs!! unclear how to describe, just know that it fucks. - s

bicycle stargazer playing cards

a gift from my dear dear friend seek. the case is paper with swirly star patterns, all the text is reflective silver. the back of the cards is the same swirly pattern that resembles a figure eight or an infinity symbol. the fronts has the card suite in red and purple neon. looks pretty cool! the material is plastic but has a strange texture. i like these cards a lot because they came from my good dear friend seek but don't use it often becuase the case is easily rippable. - mags

royalty cards

another gift from friend of the show seek! comes in a leather case, they're specifically for a game called royalty and don't function as a normal 52 card deck. instead there are two decks each with a letter, a score, and a suite. it comes with instructions on where to buy replacement cards from as well as playing insturctions. it does look a bit like scrabble. . . i think seek said they found it in a thrift shop? it's a dearly beloved gift, but remains unused because nobody wants to play card deck scrabble with me. - mags

candy hearts playing card set

comes in a large box with a scoring pad and instructions. it's a standard 54 card deck, redsigned to be cute, and also to highlight the hearts suite as well as hte queen of spades specifically. almost entirely unused, but cute! planning on putting it in the car so i can play it with the bestie!!! :D - s

art decks

fredericks & mae deck

this one was expensive and i'm still mad about it. it comes with a booklet detailing the history of card games and several games to play. the outside of the case is solid black with stars, and the inside has a rainbow gradiant. the back of the cards have a black and white pattern on them, and the front of the cards are in rainbow order with the suits in white. the face cards have a star pattern with laurels. i believe we got this at a museum we went to. - mags

playing cards northwest coast first nations & native art by native northwest

two decks that come in a cardboard box. theres a blue deck and a red deck, only the red deck has been opened. the backs as well as the fact cards have indigenous designs on them. the backs have raven adn wolf designs by ernest swanson, haida. the face cards, spades (ancestor), clubs (salmon), hearts (hummingbird), adn diamonds (eagle) were designed by ben houstie, bella bella. and the joker (dancing bear) was designed by allan weir, also haida. very cool cards, very fun to use, but i have been very careful with them. - s

van gogh

comes in paper box, easily torn. the backs have a painting by van gogh. theres a card with a small biography of van gogh. each card has a painting done by van gogh, including its name and the year it was painted. face cards are portraits and ace cards are all self portraits of the man himself, the queens are all women, the king cards are all sunflowers. the joker cards are van gogh's chair (1888) and gauguin's chair (1888). this is my favorite deck, i really like van gogh's art, and i like looking at it while playing solitaire. we got it at an art musuem. - mags

nebula playing cards by @emilysleights52

a gift for s from bro! the paper case is black with a foil pink and purple nad light blue nebula with stars in it. this is the design on the backs of the cards as well. the front is white with the actual suits and numbers in that same foil, either pinks or purples. the face cards all have varying designs with overall same shape but different details (the kings have different length beards, the queens have different hair styles, etc etc). it's a very beautiful deck and one of my favorites!!! go buy from @emilysleights52 they do amazing work - s

fandom

pirates of the carribean deck

this is, i'm pretty sure, the oldest of our card decks. we can tell it's the oldest because the case is held together by washi tape s got in sixth grade. speaking of the case, it comes in a clear plastic case. as far as we know, this deck was bought at disney by our older brother zk. the card material has been worn down over the years. it is, to quote s, "held together by sheer force of will." the illustrations are pirate themed: the king is a pirate captain, the queen is what s calls a lady pirate and what i think is probably a lady of the night. the ace is a skeleton piloting a ship and the jack is a skeleton with a sword in it and a crab watching. rip to my man. the rest of the cards have the suit on them. - mags

minecraft

from mojang. the metal case is shaped and textured like a dirt block from minecraft, but its too big for the cards inside, so the cards slide around. the backs are dirt blocks as well with the minecraft logo. the jokers are a pig and a chicken. the suites have changed: there is now shovel, sword, hearts, and diamonds. kings and queens are steve and alex respectively, the jacks are hostile mobs the background of the cards is stone (maybe wool??? idk i'm not a block expert. it's gray.). nothing exceptional, just minecraft themed. kinda wish they had the other face cards were the newer default skins, but i think these were released before those were. - mags

technoblade never dies

i really love the graphic design. the black adn white against the red are great. i got them because i missed the las nevadas deck drop and regretted it every day since. the color of the diamonds is blue not red, number cards are normal but the kings have a pig on them, i believe the queens are fluff (technoblade's dog), the jacks look like mr technodad, and the ace cards are special illustrations of the suite. the jokers are a pig head on a sword hilt. i like these! obviously, got them because of technoblade. they're one of the decks that stay on the desk at all times. - mags

castle in the sky deck

gotten from barnes and nobles. comes in a clear case, difficult to close. the backs have the robots from castle in the sky on a blue and white pattern. the fronts are standard suites, but when lined up in order basically have frames from the entire movie. they aren't used very often bcuz im scared to rip them, but because castle in the sky is my 2nd fave ghibli movie i love them very much. love and joy stored in this particular deck - s

sailor moon 1/2

cheap cards in a cheap box. they've got the characters on the front and sailor moon on the back. the jokers are the bad guys. the queens are usagi in different stages / power ups, the kings are mamoru/tuxedo mask/whatever he's going by these days, teh jacks are chibiusa, and the aces are chibi chibi usa. very cute deck, if i was younger i would like it more. cute. does its job. nothing else of note. - s

sailor moon 2/2

another gift from seek, most recent addition to collection. busted ass case. the back has a pink and white heart pattern. each number card has a different sailor scout (ace to 5) and then duo poses (6 to 10), then the queen and jack are trio poses, the king is the og 5 sailor scouts. the jokers are luna and artemis. this combines two of my interests, magical girls and card decks, it was a very thoughtful gift and i like it a lot. - mags

tiny tan

the backs are black with the tiny tan logo. literally untouched. bought from hot topic. the jokers, aces, 10s, and kings are all 7 guys, the queens and jacks have half the group on them. all other cards have one member. the suits are pink and purple instead of red and black. again, literally untouched, still in order. they sit on my bts shelf display and are cute. official merch, but missing stamp - s

bt21 playing cards

comes in a little metal box. from 5below, we probably got them. entirely untouched. i use these for display purposes as well. the backs have all of bt21 on them. the fronts are redisgned basic suites with cute add ons. the jokers and face cards are the entirety of bt21 (including van) hanging out and being cute. very cute deck, only used for display purposes. yay! - s
